Now You Can Relax with Advanced Pain-Free Sedation Dentistry Techniques

Afraid to visit the dentist? You aren't alone. Over 95 million North Americans jeopardize their oral health because they are afraid to visit the dentist for regular check-ups. And, if you've had painful experiences in the past due to crowns, bridge work, or root canals, your anxiety can be even greater.

Dr. Helaine Smith and her staff understand the anxiety people feel when it comes to visiting the dentist -- which is why we work hard to minimize it the minute you walk in the door. (It's also why Dr. Smith recently received her credential for advanced sedation dentistry techniques.)

The technical term for what we do is called sedation dentistry -- a practice which begins with Dr. Smith and Dr. Kwon getting to know you before any work is begun. Once we know the level of your fear and anxiety, either one of us can use a number of techniques to help you relax and/or eliminate pain including:

  • Discussing the procedure with you in detail so that you understand what is being done and why
  • Topical gels to temporarily numb the gums
  • Improved local anesthetics, such as Septocaine, which provide profound numbing
  • Sedative drugs taken orally, such as Valium or Triazolam, which lower anxiety
Don't let your fear and anxiety prevent you from getting the smile make-over you've always wanted. For more information about our cosmetic sedation dentistry techiques, please call our office concierge, Barbara at 617-327-1350 to schedule a private consultation.
